Friday, November 8: Early Dismissal Day for Northside and Sipsey Valley Zones

Friday, November 8, 2024, will be an Early Dismissal Day for all schools in the Northside and Sipsey Valley attendance zones of the Tuscaloosa County School System. These schools include:

Walker Elementary

Northside Middle

Northside High

Buhl Elementary

Myrtlewood Elementary

Westwood Elementary

Sipsey Valley Middle

Sipsey Valley High

On Friday, November 8, these schools will release at their half-day dismissal time. Individual schools will let students and families know their exact half-day dismissal time, as they vary slightly from school to school. The early dismissal is to allow families, faculty, and staff time to travel to Mobile to attend the November 8 football playoff games. Many faculty and staff members at these schools are involved with the teams as sponsors, coaches, or families of players. We want anyone who wants to attend the games to be able to be there to support our students. We appreciate your cooperation in making this possible.

Bus transportation will run to and from school on this day, and breakfast and lunch will be served. There will be no afterschool Extended Day or afterschool extracurricular activities for these schools on Friday, November 8.

The Early Dismissal Day for Friday, November 8, applies only to the schools listed above and does not apply to any other schools in the Tuscaloosa County School System. All other TCSS schools will operate on a regular schedule for this day.
